Questions, answered
The things people most want to know before trusting Ambry with their files.
Can Ambry read my files?
No. Files, file names and thumbnails are encrypted on your device before upload. Our servers only ever store ciphertext, and your encryption keys never leave your phone.
What happens if I forget my master password?
Your files cannot be recovered. Ambry holds no copy of your password and has no back door — that is exactly what makes the encryption trustworthy. Store your password in a password manager.
Can Ambry see the rest of my Google Drive?
No. Ambry requests only Google’s drive.file scope, which limits it to files Ambry itself created. Your existing photos and documents are never visible to us.
How do I get more storage?
Connect additional Google accounts. Each free Google account adds 15 GB, and you can connect as many as you like. Ambry also gives you 100 MB of free storage to start.
Is my photo backup encrypted too?
Yes. Automatic photo backups are encrypted on-device with the same scheme as every other file before being stored in your connected Drive.
Do you sell my data or show ads?
Never. Ambry has no ads and does not sell or share your personal information. We cannot read your files even if we wanted to.
